Firm History and Overview
Kellam, Pickrell, Cox & Anderson, a professional corporation, is the successor to the original law firm founded in 1934 by Floyd E. Kellam on the Princess Anne Courthouse grounds in Virginia Beach, Virginia (formerly Princess Anne County). The firm, with Richard B. Kellam, moved its offices to Norfolk in the late 1940’s after World War II. Upon Floyd E. Kellam’s elevation to the Court of Princess Anne County, Portsmouth and Isle of Wight, Edwin C. Kellam joined with his brother, Richard, and continued practice as Kellam & Kellam.
Upon Richard B. Kellam’s appointment as a Judge of the Circuit Court of the City of Virginia Beach and later Judge for the United States District Court of the Eastern District of Virginia, the firm continued as Kellam, Pickrell, Lawler, Hodges & Kellam. Upon William H. Hodges’ appointment as Judge of the Circuit Court of the City of Chesapeake and later as Judge of the Court of Appeals of Virginia, the firm continued as Kellam, Pickrell & Lawler, then as Kellam, Pickrell, Lawler & Cox, and later as Kellam, Pickrell, Cox & Tayloe. The present professional corporation Kellam, Pickrell, Cox & Anderson, P.C. was formed January 1, 1992.
Past members of the firm have served as Judges for the General District Courts and Circuit Courts in the Cities of Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth and Virginia Beach, the Virginia Court of Appeals and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. The present members of Kellam, Pickrell, Cox & Anderson, P.C. are proud of the firm’s heritage and are dedicated to continuing to provide quality legal services to its clients.
The firm has a varied general practice of law and active litigation practice. The firm’s attorneys regularly appear before the Circuit Courts, General District and Family Law Courts in Hampton Roads.
